THE RFR23

Fitted with a high-efficiency electric powertrain, our latest car, the RFR23 is set to be ready to race in November 2023. After an immensely successful 9-year stint in the Combustion Vehicle category, bringing home numerous laurels in national and international competitions, we made the shift to an electric drive, keeping in line with the global call for sustainable transportation. After an extensive design phase of over a year, and surmounting numerous challenges posed by the COVID pandemic,  we are well on our way toward taking our first electric car to its first competition, Formula Bharat 2023.

BORN TO RACE ...

If cars could talk, ours would tell volumes about the work and time that the team has spent on them in the quest for perfection. From our humble first attempt in 2012, the only way for our team has been forward, never looking back, and improving the quality year after year. RFR23, our latest creation, is the first electric race car we are building. You can tell a lot about the team’s progress by checking out our previous combustion vehicles and their achievements.

The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary. All the hours put in building this car are done with just one thing in mind - 'Trophies are won at the garage and just picked up at the race track.'

THE CHAMPIONSHIP CAR

Completing the acceleration event in our fastest time ever and finishing the endurance event, the car was bound for glory. Breaking the statics points record for the 2nd year in a row, the car finished second overall in dynamics, and first place in the design event, taking our team to the top step of the podium at Formula Bharat 2020. The performance leaves behind a legacy the previous teams have all worked hard to create.

RFR19

The legendary RFR19 featured an all-new programmable ECU, making it extremely reliable and data-hungry. Setting a record-breaking points tally at Formula Bharat 2019 statics, the team finished 3rd in cost and 11th in BPP at FSG as well! With all the data collected over the course of its testing, the RFR19 played a significant role in helping us build our fastest and lightest car yet, the RFR20.

EMBRACING THE GERMAN TRACK

RFR18

Having made its mark by standing third overall in Formula Bharat, first in fuel efficiency, and second in endurance, the team was the only Indian entrant to FSG that year. Having fought their way through massive hurdles that year, the experience was a huge learning curve for every single team member.

CLIMBING UP THE LADDER

RFR17

RFR17 featured an aero package for the first time. A new single-cylinder KTM390, a 3D printed intake, and a complete aero package made the RFR17 a fast and immaculate race car. The team won skidpad, endurance, and efficiency, came 2nd in autocross and finished overall 2nd. It won the fuel efficiency event in FS Italy, making Raftar among the first Indian teams to finish an international endurance and the first one to win a dynamic event.

WINGS TO STAY GROUNDED

RFR16

Donning the iconic black and green livery for the first time, no other car is as true a representation as the RFR16 of the grit, perseverance, and the never-say-die attitude of team Raftar Formula Racing. The car not only cleared TI but completed the endurance event for the first time and propelled our position to 3rd at the table, giving us a place at the winner’s podium.

THE ICONIC GREEN AND BLACK

RFR14

With carbon fiber parts and rigorous design, this was the first Indian sub-200 kilos FS car, with an official weight of 194 kilos. This was also our first car to participate in both Formula Student Germany 2014 and the inaugural Formula Student India 2015. Lessons were learned and the team marched on.

FLOAT LIKE A BUTTERFLY STING LIKE A BEE

RFR13

After having made a successful debut, the team went straight back to the workplace and got right into what they do best: make a race car. The car featured 13-inch Braid rims, a Glass Fibre composite body, and a Honda CBR 250r engine with a 6-speed gearbox. Having switched to a single cylinder and shed nearly 100 kilos, this was our first car to complete a dynamic event when it ran autocross at FSG13.

STEPPING UP THE GAME

RFR12

A humble first attempt at making a Formula Student car with a brand new team and visions of an exciting future ahead, the RFR12 was built out of the sheer passion and determination of a few individuals, and with it, Raftar Formula Racing was born. The livery design was inspired by Ayrton Senna’s Lotus 95T.
